Our Competition Team
The Crazy Uncles
Namur, Belgium
Our Instructor cadre had the opportunity to travel to Namur, Belgium and compete in Grimpday 2021 this year. The competition was September 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.
Grimpday is an international rope rescue competition. It started 16 years ago in Namur, Belgium by a group of Firemen who wanted to showcase different styles, techniques, and products in technical rope rescue. Only 3 teams from the USA have ever competed. Our team at Red River Rescue dubbed ourselves "The Crazy Uncles". We competed against the best in the world. We placed 21 overall and won the award for best Fair play. We were so honored to be considered to compete. We plan on returning next year.
Of course we could not have been able to go without the support of our friends, family, and our community. In addition, we had several sponsors that donated equipment and money to make our dream come true.
We learned so much and made some amazing friends from the international community. If there are any teams looking to compete in Grimpday, please reach out to us. We learned a lot of lessons as first time competitors and we would love to share the beta with you!
